<p><strong>Overview</strong></p>
<p>Our client, a leading consultancy within the high-hazard engineering sector, is seeking a Senior or Principal Technical Safety Engineer to support a growing portfolio of UK and international projects.</p>
<p>This role will focus on delivering high-quality technical safety and risk engineering work across sectors including energy, chemicals and other high-hazard industries. The successful candidate will operate in a client-facing consultancy environment, supporting both project delivery and wider business objectives.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>The successful candidate will deliver high-quality technical work across a range of process safety projects.</p>
<p>Typical responsibilities will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Delivery of Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), including onshore studies</li>
<li>Supporting or leading development of COMAH Safety Reports and Offshore Safety Cases</li>
<li>Identification and assessment of major accident hazards and risk profiles</li>
<li>Application of ALARP principles and recommendation of appropriate risk reduction measures</li>
<li>Participation in, and ideally leadership of, Process Hazard Analysis workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FMECA, Bowtie)</li>
<li>Technical report writing and preparation of client deliverables</li>
<li>Supporting multidisciplinary project teams across consultancy projects</li>
<li>Client interaction and contribution to commercial/project delivery discussions</li>
<li>Occasional UK and international travel for client and site-based work</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Candidate Requirements</strong></p>
<p>Candidates should demonstrate a strong technical background in process safety, engineering risk management or a related discipline.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Have several years’ experience in Technical Safety or Process Safety within a consultancy or high-hazard operating environment</li>
<li>Demonstrate a strong understanding of Quantitative Risk Assessment methodologies</li>
<li>Have knowledge of COMAH Safety Report and/or Offshore Safety Case requirements</li>
<li>Be able to identify, assess and communicate risk, including application of ALARP principles</li>
<li>Possess strong analytical and problem-solving capability</li>
<li>Be highly numerate with strong technical judgement</li>
<li>Have excellent communication and technical report writing skills</li>
<li>Be a reliable team player with a commercial awareness</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Desirable Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience leading Process Hazard Analysis workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA etc.)</li>
<li>Experience using QRA software such as PHAST and SAFETI</li>
<li>Programming or advanced analytical skills (Excel, VBA, Python, C++)</li>
<li>Membership of a relevant professional institution</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Degree in Engineering or Science (Chemical Engineering or Physics preferred)</li>
<li>Professional membership or chartership advantageous</li>
</ul>

</strong>Seeking accomplished Senior Consultant to join their successful Safety and Risk Management team. The job will play a pivotal role in delivering effective assessments and expert advice to a diverse range of clients. Including everything from Oil and Gas Operators to other major hazard industries worldwide.</p>
<p>Their team boasts a rich heritage, pioneering cutting-edge risk management techniques since the 1970s. They have continuously developed their expertise and proprietary risk assessment software to enhance their consultancy services.</p>
<p>As a Senior Consultant, the role will primarily be desk-based, demanding a high level of numeracy and report-writing skills. However, the role also necessitates flexibility for travel, ensuring you deliver exceptional service to their international clients.</p>

<p><strong>Their Requirements </strong></p>
<p>The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to prioritise work.</p>
<p>The candidate must have:</p>
<ul>
<li>COMAH Safety Reports and Onshore QRAs are becoming requested more and more. This experience would be huge for them.</li>
<li>Some years of technical safety or process safety experience, preferably in a consultancy or at an operating company in the high-hazard industries</li>
<li>A good understanding of Quantitative Risk assessment techniques in general</li>
<li>Knowledge of the Offshore Safety Case and/or COMAH Safety Report requirements</li>
<li>Able to identify and recommend appropriate risk controls to reduce risks to ALARP</li>
<li>Good problem-solving skills and is highly numerate</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills</li>
<li>Technical report writing ability</li>
<li>The ability to work reliably as a team player</li>
<li>A commercial/business focus</li>
<li>Travel Requirement, occasional UK and International travel for Client/Site visits.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Ideally you will have the following:</strong></p>
<p>A good degree in engineering or science (a degree in chemical engineering or physics is highly desirable) with excellent written and oral communication skills. Membership of a professional institution would be an advantage.</p>
<p>Although not essential the following would be of benefit:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experienced in leading Process Hazard Analysis workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FMECA, Bowtie, etc.)</li>
<li>Experience in the use of Quantitative Risk Analysis Software such as Phast and Safeti</li>
<li>Excel skills, Visual Basic, Python and C++ experience</li>
<li>Membership of a professional institution</li>
</ul>
